Alfa Romeo hasn't been a huge success in the United States under Stellantis' leadership. Sales for the Italian brand have fallen by more than half from 2022 to 2025, and sales are already down 45 percent through the first half of 2026.
Fresh models coming—eventually—and a new concept will preview its next era of cars.
The new concept, which Alfa Romeo is teasing today, looks like it could be a proper sports car. The single abstract image looks like the rear three-quarter of a sleek supercar, but it is impossible to be sure.
Alfa says the concept is the car that “every Alfista has been waiting for,” and “Created for those who still love driving and seeking authentic experiences behind the wheel...”
The company says the new concept takes inspiration from three things: Italy, Sportiness, and the color Red. Alfa says in its press release:
‘From these three ingredients comes a masterpiece that is unmistakably Italian and unmistakably Alfa Romeo, looking to the future with ambition and boldness.’
We will see the result next month. The concept will make its debut at the Paris Motor Show in mid-October, with Alfa’s press conference scheduled for the 12th.
Alfa’s Next Cars
Back in May, when Stellantis announced its new roadmap, it said it would focus on four core brands: Jeep, Ram, Peugeot, and Fiat. The rest, including Alfa, would serve as regional or historic brands.
Despite Stellantis’ shift in focus, Alfa is preparing a new compact crossover that will sit alongside the Tonale in the lineup. Next-generation versions of the Stelvio and Giulia are expected, but we don’t expect them anytime soon as engineers redesign them to accommodate combustion engines.
Alfa and Maserati will also design, develop, and build specialty models, likely resulting in a car like the 33 Stradale and MCXtrema. Whatever comes next, we suspect this new concept will heavily influence the brand’s future design language.
Motor1’s Take: A new concept car will allow Alfa Romeo to reset expectations with consumers if it results in a new direction for the brand that embraces its heritage. Alfa is a sporty brand first and foremost, and any brand focused on performance needs more than crossovers in its lineup.
