Alex Scott had 'disastrous date' with Coronation Street star after secret teammate romance

Despite appearing on the TV nearly every day, Alex Scott has remained quiet about her private life away from the spotlight.

However, she will open up about falling "madly and deeply in love" with fellow Lioness Kelly Smith in her new memoir, How (Not) To Be Strong and her subsequent heartbreak when they split.

The 37-year-old TV star, who is believed to currently be single, later went on a slightly disastrous date with Coronation Street actor Sam Robertson, who stars as Adam Barlow in the ITV soap.

Alex and Sam had enjoyed a candlelit dinner back in 2020 at a fancy Soho restaurant in London.

Despite the date appearing to go well, things didn't turn out the way she had envisioned.

“I never seem to have a lot of luck on dates,” she said. “My one date in ages was going out with Sam [Robertson], who is lovely.”

Alex continued to The Sun's Fabulous magazine: "The next morning, our pictures were all over the press because someone in the restaurant had taken a photo.

“It wasn’t exactly a great start!”

She also dubbed dating apps "unnatural" and said that she wouldn't dare using them and wants to find love organically.

Speaking to The Sunday Times, she said: "If someone manages to come into my life who complements it, then great, but I’m not a person that needs to be with someone.

"My life has always been about being independent, making sure you can look after yourself and never wanting to feel that someone can walk out on you and take everything away from you."

Alex recently opened up about how when it came to writing the chapter revealing Kelly had been her first love, she almost couldn't bring herself to do it.

But speaking at her book launch in London, she said it would have been “cheating” to leave it out.

Alex, watched from the audience by her mum, explained: “I went back and forth on whether I’d actually be writing the chapter. But then it was one of those moments, I’m writing this book and I want to tell everything. I thought I’d be cheating you all if I didn’t put that in there. And for me, it’s like that first love story, I fell madly and deeply in love. And yes, there’s that heartbreak and those things, but it’s a huge part of my life and I wouldn’t go back and change that.

“Because that feeling of love and that excitement and what it gives you, it needed to be in there.”
