Alex Ovechkin Progresses In Recovery From Broken Leg

Washington Capitals' star player, Alex Ovechkin, took to the ice for a light solo skate session on Monday as he continues his recovery from a broken leg. Ovechkin, who sustained a left fibula injury in a game last month, was seen skating in a tracksuit and helmet with a stick in hand but no hockey gear.

Capitals' coach confirmed that this was Ovechkin's first time back on the ice since the injury, describing it as a positive step in his rehabilitation process. While no specific timeline was provided for his return, the team remains hopeful that he could be back in action by late December or early January.

Ovechkin's absence has not slowed down the Capitals, who have won four consecutive games since his injury. The team has adapted well in his absence, particularly on the power play, where Ovechkin holds the all-time record for goals scored.

Despite the team's success without Ovechkin, his presence on the ice is sorely missed as he was in top form before the injury, scoring 15 goals in just 18 games. Ovechkin is also closing in on breaking Wayne Gretzky's NHL career goal record, needing just 27 more to achieve the milestone.

While Ovechkin's recovery progresses, winger Sonny Milano is also working his way back from an upper-body injury. Coach Carbery noted that Milano still has a significant amount of rehabilitation ahead before he can return to the lineup.

The Capitals, currently leading the Eastern Conference, are showing resilience in the face of key injuries and are eager to have Ovechkin back on the ice as soon as possible to bolster their lineup.
