Alejandro Garnacho has made clear his feelings on former club Manchester United sacking Ruben Amorim.
Amorim was on Monday morning dismissed by United after a 14-month spell in charge which was marked by inconsistent results, internal tensions and a power struggle with the club’s hierarchy over transfers.
Garnacho has appeared to celebrate Amorim's sacking by publicly liking journalist Fabrizio Romano's Instagram post confirming the Portuguese boss’s exit.
The social-media reaction from Garnacho comes amid a backdrop of a fractured relationship between player and boss that ultimately contributed to his exit from Old Trafford last summer.
Amorim froze Garnacho out of the first-team squad during pre-season, moving him to the club’s so-called “bomb squad” as Chelsea and other clubs circled.
Reports at the time suggested that Garnacho wanted a fresh challenge under different leadership, and that his future at United was untenable under Amorim’s management — with the winger eager to join Chelsea despite United’s initial resistance.
Their relationship reportedly soured over selections and playing time, with Garnacho frustrated by limited minutes and tactical decisions that he felt didn’t suit his game. That tension boiled over into a transfer that saw United agree a £40million deal with Chelsea.
Garnacho has struggled to answer his critics at Chelsea, despite a prominent role, scoring just one goal in 13 league appearances to date.
