As Annu Rani in women's javelin throw and Sreeshankar in men's long jump flopped at the World Athletics Championships, Jeswin Aldrin altered the script, bagging the 12th and last spot in the men's long jump final scheduled on Thursday night.
After Avinash Sable in men's 3000m steeplechase, it was Kerala athlete Sreeshankar's turn as he crashed out tamely in the qualifying round. Sreeshankar, who finished seventh at the Oregon Worlds last year, had crossed the 8m mark five times this year but his form deserted him on the big stage.
