Aldi and Lidl have issued urgent warnings about a popular snack sold in their stores. Warp Snacks has recalled several of its Lentil Bites and Chips products because of undeclared gluten.
These include several marketed under the Lidl Snaktastic as well as Aldi The Foodie Market brands. A number of flavours of the Eat Real Lentil Chips brand which are sold at other supermarkets, including Morrisons and Holland & Barrett - which has branches inside many Tesco stores - have also been affected by the recall.
According to the Food Standards Agency the recall is being made as the items could pose a health issue for some people with allergies. It said in its recall notice: "Warp Snacks is recalling several Lentil Bites and Chips products because they may contain gluten which is not declared on the label. The exact cereal is currently unknown. This means the products are a possible health risk for anyone with coeliac disease, and/or an allergy or intolerance to gluten."
