Aldi has issued a warning to its customers about a scam being circulated across social media sites.
In a Facebook post, the budget-friendly supermarket giant said it's aware of customers being told that the company is giving away a £200 gift card. In an attempt to debunk the post, it said that such posts are "not legitimate and are not affiliated with Aldi".
Customers have reported spotting users and groups on social falsely identifying themselves as Aldi in order to promote the fraudulent £200 gift card to unwitting customers.

Writing on Facebook, Aldi warned: "We are aware of current fraudulent posts circulating on social media advising that Aldi is giving away a £200 gift card. Please be advised that these are not legitimate and are not affiliated with Aldi.
"We strongly recommend that you do not share any of your personal details. If you have already shared any of your personal information, we would advise that you contact Action Fraud to report this."
Scams such as the one Aldi has warned about are commonly known as phishing scams. The main goal of a phishing attempt is to get hold of an individual's private information such as banking details and account passwords.
On social media sites, scammers may promote the fraudulent gift card offer on a Facebook group or Twitter group chat. One Facebook user asked Aldi: "Can people use the scam £200 voucher that being offered on Facebook??"
Aldi replied: "We can confirm that this is not a legitimate competition from Aldi. We strongly recommend that you do not share any of your personal details. Please be assured that this is currently being looked into internally."
If you spot a scam online, it is recommended that you don't engage with it in any way, shape, or form and contact Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 to report it.
