Aldi is selling an air fryer at nearly half price for Black Friday as an online exclusive, undercutting deals offered at Currys on the biggest shopping day of the year.
The budget supermarket is selling the Tefal Actifry for £99 despite it being listed at £189, reduced to £169, on the rival website. Instead Aldi has cut £90 from the price in its Black Friday sale and it is expected to sell out quickly.
The 1.2kg capacity air fryer comes with over 100 recipes and can cook 'everything from crispy chicken wings and chilli beef to prawn spring rolls and chips', says Aldi.
In the last few months sales of air fryers have risen sharply to the point where the kitchen appliances have formed the central part of Black Friday marketing from a host of retailers including Amazon, Currys and eBay.
Retailers have had plenty of time to prepare for demand for air fryers. Sales have increased ever since the UK’s cost of living crisis began to escalate. A series of energy bill rises has led shoppers to search for ways to cut the cost of their energy bills.
Air fryers have become the unlikely go-to option for households due to their low running costs. Being able to cook everything from full English breakfasts to entire roast dinners has driven demand for the appliances but that has led to a problem - despite air fryers dominating Black Friday marketing many of the UK’s biggest retailers have very little stock left.
When Ninja launched its Black Friday deals one of the major draws was the Ninja Foodi MAX Dual Zone Air Fryer AF400UKDBCP - £229.99 but it is now out of stock on the Ninja website. Similar out of stock notices have appeared on Currys and Amazon as shoppers scramble for an air fryer bargain,.
