Aldi bargain hunter shares top three shopping tips for getting lower prices

As households continue to feel the crunch of the cost of living crisis, many shoppers have started switching up their shopping habits in a bid to save money.

One supermarket to have seen a surge in popularity has been the discounted chain Aldi, which has reportedly gained a whopping 1.5 million customers in the last three months. One of the biggest selling points for the budget grocer is its vast range of low priced products that is said to rival the quality of some major brands - all without the price-tag.

But, what if you could get prices even lower?

Well, according to bargain hunter Tom Church, co-founder of the LatestDeals.co.uk money saving community, shoppers can save up to 75% when adopting a few tips into their next trip to the supermarket.

Taking to TikTok, the money-saving expert shared three of his top tips and tricks that Aldi shoppers can use to spend even less money, and it all involved shopping at the right time and looking for the correct items.

Here are Tom's top three tips for saving more money at Aldi.

1. Shop on the right day of the week

While you are guaranteed to get a good bargain any day of the week thanks to Aldi's consistently low price, but Tom does say that one day of the week is better than others.

According to the bargain hunter, shoppers should plan their shopping trip for Wednesday's as this is when they will find items that have been reduced in price.

Tom explained: "Typically, Aldi drops their prices between Tuesday nights and Wednesday mornings, as that is when they announce their new weekly discounts."

If you want to save more money, planning for your food shop on a Wednesday can help you beat the crowds and bag some bargains before they are all gone."

2. Lookout for red stickers

When looking for reduced items in-store, shoppers are urged to look for red coloured stickers, which are Aldi's versions of the popular 'yellow-sticker' deals that are found in most supermarkets.

As the store typically doesn't offer 'buy one get one free deals', Tom advises that shoppers keep an eye out for the red labels as they can offer even better deals. He even claims that they can offer up to a whopping 75% off on select items.

It is worth noting, that like all label deals, some stock may vary from store to store, so it is worth keeping an eye out in your local Aldi to see what they are offering.

3. Ditch the takeaways for a fakeaway

Alongside their incredibly low prices, the supermarket chain has also become incredibly well known for their range of big-name 'dupes' - particularly for takeaways.

And with the cost of living crisis, many of us might be having to itch the weekly takeout treat, but luckily you can still indulge yourself with a few fakeaways from Aldi.

One of their most popular 'fakeaways' is their McDonald's 'dupes', which includes fake Big Macks for £1.50, chicken nuggets for £1.70 and breakfast hash browns from £1.50.

Tom says that Aldi's fakeaways are "perfect for satisfying cravings without breaking the bank."
