Albert Bridge may not fully reopen to traffic for a year after cracks discovered, warns council

Albert Bridge may not fully reopen to motorists for a year, according to Kensington and Chelsea council.

The 153-year-old bridge, which crosses the River Thames between Chelsea Embankment and Battersea Park, was closed to traffic on February 9 after council engineers discovered cracks in a cast-iron abutment on the north-east side of the bridge’s support structure.
