Alan Smith has claimed that Arsenal star Martin Odegaard is now worth £80 million in the current transfer market.
Odegaard was officially named as the club's captain over the summer, scoring his first goals as skipper against Bournemouth on Saturday as Mikel Arteta's men clinched a 3-0 victory. The Norwegian playmaker arrived at the Emirates Stadium on loan back in January 2021 before joining on a permanent basis for £30 million last summer.
However, former Arsenal frontman Smith has claimed that the 23-year-old is now worth more than double that. Speaking toSky Sports about his former side, he said: "Their recruitment, it’s so difficult to get these sort of players.

"I think it shines a great light on the recruiting system, they are so together. I mean they paid £30m for Martin Odegaard and at the time I think some fans were thinking ‘£30m for Odegaard’. But I mean you get £80m for him now easily."
Odegaard will hope to continue his fine form next weekend when the Gunners welcome newly-promoted Fulham to the Emirates Stadium, with Marco Silva's men also unbeaten in their first three Premier League fixtures this season.
