Alan Shearer sent watching Gareth Southgate a message as Newcastle United's Callum Wilson starred in his side's 4-0 thrashing of Aston Villa at St James' Park. Wilson opened the scoring with a penalty on the stroke of half time before adding another in the second half.
Goals from Joelinton and Miguel Almiron sealed the win. Eddie Howe's side remain in fourth place in the Premier League table and are unbeaten in eight games.
Wilson, 30, now has six goals in nine Premier League appearances this season. The striker has emerged as a real contender to be included in Southgate's squad for the World Cup.

Shearer Tweeted: "2 goals for @CallumWilson in front of the England manager"
He added: "That’s 6 this month for Migggyyyyyyy" followed by a host of clapping emojis in response to Almiron's 68th minute goal. The Paraguayan has now scored seven league goals this term, having only previously scored nine times in the past four seasons.
In terms of English strikers, only Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane (10) and Brentford's Ivan Toney (8) have more goals than Wilson in the top flight this season. The ex-Bournemouth player has four caps for his country, and scored on his debut in a 3-0 friendly win over the USA.
However, he has not pulled on an England jersey since 2019. Wilson has struggled with injuries in the last few years and has spent time on the sidelines with calf, hamstring and anterior cruciate ligament issues.
