Alan Shearer says Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worrall played a ‘huge part’ in the club’s Premier League survival this season, with the skipper named in the pundit’s Premier League team of the week.
Worrall, along with his fellow defenders helped, the Reds record an all important clean sheet in Saturday’s 1-0 win over Arsenal. Taiwo Awoniyi’s first half goal was the difference between the two sides as Forest secured their Premier League survival with one game of the season remaining.
Shearer named Worrall as part of a back three alongside Everton centre-back Yerry Mina and Brentford’s Ben Mee. In his explanation, the Premier League's record goalscorer told the official website: “Worrall played a huge part in keeping Nottingham Forest up, playing a key role in the clean sheet in the 1-0 win over Arsenal.”

Worrall has been in and out of the starting line-up for Forest this season. He made a total of 29 appearances in the league, and has featured in the last six, in which Forest have lost just two and won three.
After securing survival against Arsenal, Worrall spoke about the ‘tough’ journey to get to this point. "It's fantastic, it's been a tough season for us, really, really tough," he told Sky Sports. "I'm trying not to swear like I did last season at Wembley.
"It's phenomenal. It's for everyone involved in the club. For the players who have joined us, the lads who have come in on loan.
"I've worked so hard to get here and play for Forest, it's what I've always wanted to do. I said it last year, a lot of people come and go, but they all add that little bit. It's fantastic. This is what this club is about and the future is bright."
