Newcastle United's record signing Alexander Isak may have to settle for a wide role in the coming months. That is the view of Magpies legend Alan Shearer, who believes Eddie Howe will continue with Callum Wilson in attack.
Isak's comeback from a long-term injury was a positive on an otherwise dismal night for Newcastle in their FA Cup defeat at Sheffield Wednesday. Josh Windass' second-half double was enough to send the League One side through to the fourth round, despite Bruno Guimaraes pulling one back just minutes later.
Isak was handed his first start for almost four months, and twice came close to opening the scoring for the visitors. The Sweden international was withdrawn at the break in a pre-planned move, with Chris Wood leading the attack for the second half.
