Alan Shearer insists that confidence will still be high in the Newcastle squad despite defeat to Chelsea at the weekend. The result meant the Magpies' impressive nine game unbeaten came to an end, but unlike previous attempts, the result was not a foregone conclusion.
Thomas Tuchel's side made light work of the Magpies at St. James' Park earlier this season with a dominant performance, but it was a much tighter contest at Stamford Bridge. Newcastle will feel aggrieved not to have come away from the capital with at least a point, having been denied a stonewall penalty.
Newcastle set about Chelsea, utilising a high press which was particularly effective, according to Shearer. The Magpies' all-time leading goalscorer paid tribute to Eddie Howe's tactical set-up which shows everyone is 'on the same page.'
