Alan Shearer aims dig at Alexander Isak after Liverpool’s late penalty drama at Newcastle

• Alan Shearer admitted he was desperate for Alexander Isak to take Liverpool’s late penalty in their 2-2 draw against Newcastle on Sunday.
• Isak returned to St James’ Park for the first time since his controversial £125m move to Anfield last summer and was roundly booed by the home fans throughout the match.
• The Swedish striker struggled to make an impact, but looked to have been given the chance to silence his critics when Liverpool were awarded a penalty deep into stoppage time to level the score at 2-2.
• However, Dominik Szoboszlai took the ball instead, and Shearer indicated on The Rest is Football podcast that he was disappointed with Isak as he wanted the striker to show “what you’ve got” after getting “absolutely battered” by the Newcastle fans.
• Instead, Szoboszlai stepped up and smashed the ball into the top corner, with Shearer admitting that it was an exceptional penalty under extreme pressure.
