Alan Forrest looks set to join Hearts after the Jambos made an improved bid to land the flying Livingston winger.
Robbie Neilson is looking to add depth to his team for a crack at the Europa Conference League and Record Sport revealed Forrest was a target.
Dundee United were also hopeful of a deal and had made an approach to sign him under freedom of contract.
But we now understand Hearts have upped their offer to get a deal over the line
Forrest is set to become one of Neilson’s first signings for next season’s European push.
The brother of Celtic star James Forrest, made the step up from Ayr United to Livi two seasons ago.
The Jambos also want Scotland international striker Lawrence Shankland but it all depends on Beerschot’s asking price, which is likely to be around £500,000.
Hearts are also keen on a deal for Central Coast Mariners defender Kyle Rowles.
Head coach Neilson is looking to build on last season’s third place finish, knowing his team will be guaranteed European football until Christmas either in the Europa League or they will drop into the Europa Conference League.
Hearts are also waiting to hear back on whether or not Peter Haring is going to sign his contract extension.
