Alan Carr's Epic Gameshow viewers are saying the same thing about the audience

Alan Carr's Epic Gameshow returned to our screens tonight (Saturday, July 7) with another shiny new gameshow reboot of 80s television quiz Child's Play, which sees contestants guessing words, songs and people described by young children.

The original show ran for five seasons during the 80s and was hosted by Michael Aspel. The Epic Gameshow, hosted by comedian and presenter Carr, is now in its third series and sees the 46-year-old host "five of the nation's favourite gameshows," ITV says on its website, adding: "Watch players attempt to win prizes in Play Your Cards Right, The Price is Right, Strike it Lucky and more."

But it seems viewers at home, although entertained by the concept of tonight's show and won over by the adorable kids being descriptors, were somewhat distracted by the gameshow's 'live' audience - with many thinking that there was no audience even there at all.

While there seems to be live laughter and reactions to the Chatty Man's witty comments, children's descriptions and contestants' answers, some viewers took to Twitter to air their suspicions. One Gameshow watcher wrote on the social media platform: "#epicgameshow Oh the fake audience going 'Awww', 'oooh', 'ahhh' and laughing."

@VicsterLS also said: "… there is no actual audience there is there ? Just a Production Assistant and a line of buttons. At least it means he always gets a laugh … #epicgameshow", while @jamie_pragnell commented: "Aaaarrrrggghhhh this fake audience!! #epicgameshow".

But while the sounds from the audience irked some people, others were praising the show and Alan's hosting. @Brekkietweets said: "I've said it since series 1 but rather than continuing with #EpicGameshow much better to give Alan a full series of one or two of the formats. Last week showed again how much #StrikeItLucky suits him, and #TakeYourPick really did as well."

Another Twitter user, @living_2020 wrote: "I enjoyed Child’s Play #ChildsPlay #AlanCarrsEpicGameshow #EpicGameshow Perfect Saturday night TV." While @IndiaWilloughby commented on how well the host was looking: "Alan Carr looking good," she wrote on Twitter.

Alan Carr's Epic Gameshow airs on ITV on Saturdays at 7pm
