Woman queues in cold at 4.30am for Aldi air fryer - and there's only one left

A woman who got up at 4.30am and queued for two hours for an air fryer was relieved and rewarded for her efforts when she got her hands on the only one sent to the store.

Anne Grainger set her alarm early on Sunday morning before heading to her local Aldi armed with a chair to sit on and a flask to keep herself sustained.

Luckily for the 58-year-old she was the only shopper keen enough to wait out in the cold as when the manager arrived, he revealed the store in Cardiff had only received one.

She said: "I thought I was being prepared, I thought there would be people waiting.

“The manager came about seven and they said we have only had one delivered, I couldn't believe it.

“They said some stores haven't even had any delivered."

Anne said she decided to make the purchase after doing some research with her daughter Victoria who she said likes to cook, WalesOnline reports.

They had been reading about air fryers and decided to buy the Aldi air fryer.

Anne said when she left the store with the one air fryer they had available, the manager put a sign up in the window which read: "We have zero air fryers, some stores have received zero, sorry for the inconvenience caused but please don't queue for it."

Aldi recently launched its own Ninja Dual Air Fryer dupe, for £140 less than the coveted sell-out item.

The £89.99 air fryer was available to buy in-store from Sunday, November 13th, but was made available to buy online from 8am on November 6 when early risers found themselves in a queue of thousands of people.

One dedicated shopper who was number 195533 in the queue gasped: "When you see #airfryer trending because of ridiculously long queues to buy the Aldi version…

“Geez, I’ve seen shorter queues to buy gig tickets. This country loves a good queue."

An Aldi spokesperson said: “The demand for our Specialbuys was extremely high this morning and as a result customers may have been held in a queue to enter the website.

“This was to improve customer experience on the website when they entered and made their purchase.”
