AHMEDABAD: The civic body intensified its drive against buildings that do not have 'building use' permission. Three hospitals, 67 industrial units and three commercial units were sealed by the civic body on Tuesday. Hospitals near Acher Depot in Sabarmati, in Naroda and Thakkarbapanagar, which were operating from of a commercial complex, were sealed by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC).
Four small industrial estates were also in the civic body's crosshairs. These included two in India Colony, and one each in Vastral, Odhav and Saraspur. At the Odhav industrial estate, 63 units were sealed, while one unit each in India Colony Vastral and Saraspur estates were sealed. From May last year, the AMC has sealed 3,670 commercial and 409 residential units for lack of BU permission.
"For the next two days we will be inspecting units at private industrial estates in Saraspur , Odhav, Naroda and Gyaspur for BU permission. There are a large number of units at private estates that do not have BU permission," said a senior AMC official in the town planning and estate department.
