Reo Hatate has completed a shock deadline-busting move from Celtic to Burnley after falling out of favour at the club.
The 28-year-old Japanese international leaves the Scottish champions, having won nine major honours, including five league titles, since joining the club during Ange Postecoglou’s reign.

Hatate’s departure comes amid a major Celtic midfield reshuffle, with Daizen Maeda and Arne Engels also having exited the club this summer.
Burnley confirmed the permanent transfer around 25 minutes after the deadline had passed, announcing: “We are delighted to announce the signing of Japan international Reo Hatate, who joins the Clarets in a permanent move from Celtic for an undisclosed fee.

Hatate admitted he is relishing the prospect of beginning a new chapter in English football. He said: “This is a great move for me. It’s my first time playing in England and it’s a fantastic club to be joining.
“I’m hoping to bring my experience and knowledge to the dressing room and help the team on the pitch as much as possible to achieve our aim.”
