After days of teasing No Man's Sky fans with cryptic emoji posts, Hello Games boss Sean Murray reveals new update with gravity guns, recycling, and vehicle customization that lets us build spider mechs

No Man's Sky Remnant.

After leaving the No Man's Sky community in shambles with cryptic teaser posts containing nothing more than safety vest emojis, Hello Games lead Sean Murray has unveiled a massive new update for the 2016 survival gem: Remnant.

It's been a wild few days for us No Man's Sky stans. After Murray started vagueposting some hi-vis vests on Twitter, we've all been scrambling to find out what they could possibly mean. Something on Light No Fire and its progress, perhaps?

Nope – it is indeed a new No Man's Sky update, after all, and it's downright huge. The first feature to catch my eye is a gravity gun that feels all too reminiscent of Garry's Mod, and its physics sandbox shenanigans.

The Gravitino Coil, as it's called, is a powerful new anti-gravity module for your multi-tool, allowing you to grab large objects and toss them around like they weigh nothing – or, uh, you can also carefully carry them, too… but that's arguably way less fun, right?
There's more, too. We can now recycle, salvaging debris from planets and hauling it into Waste Processing Plants for "rare and highly prized resources," as Murray puts it.

This also means new trucks, tipping flatbeds, and haulers are up for construction to make the transport of resources to industrial yards easier. Salvaging can be done alone, of course, but you can team up with your friends – just make sure you've brushed up on all the OSHA regulations (safety vests and all, as Murray's posts from over the past few days teased).

It's an exciting gameplay loop – searching wrecks, loading cargo trucks, and grabbing that bag.

Transporting isn't always easy, though. You'll need to be extra careful with some of the scrap you find, with over-stacking always hanging over you as a risk (no, you can't add just one more thing, guys).

As for the gravity gun itself, when you're not using it to move stuff around, you can turn it into a weapon as well. Grab a sentinel or something heavy, and boom – you've got yourself some free projectiles.

The Remnant update brings more vehicles to the table than just haulers and trucks, too. New customization lets you create everything from a "spider-legged sci-fi explorer" – AKA a literal spider mech – and "heavily armed military vehicles with tank tracks."

It's a lot, and with dozens of accompanying vehicle parts, the potential for creativity feels endless. The best part of all of this, however, is that the new No Man's Sky update is here today.

So, grab your gravity guns and craft your spider mechs – there's scrap to salvage and turn in for rewards, and a practically infinite number of planets to explore to find even more to flip with your friends.
