Aer Lingus passengers facing online check-in issues

Aer Lingus customers are facing further difficulties this morning as some passengers reported having issues checking in online via its website and mobile app.

Others have also had trouble managing their bookings through the same routes.

The problem was first seen on Sunday night.

In a tweet, Aer Lingus said: “We continue to see customers having issues checking in via our website and mobile app. While we work to resolve this, we want to reassure customers that airport check-in remains available. Please arrive 2 hours before for European flights and 3 hours for transatlantic flights.”

It then announced that the issues had been resolved.

Aer Lingus tweeted: “Online check-in and manage trip services are now available again via our website and mobile app. We apologise to customers for any inconvenience caused by the issues.”

However, the problem resurfaced at around 6.20am on Monday.

Aer Lingus said: “We are aware that some customers are again experiencing issues managing their bookings and checking in online. Our teams are working to resolve this as soon as possible. Check-in at the airport remains available for all customers.”

Responding to a query, it added: “Hi, our system is down throughout affecting Manage Trip also. Our team are aware of the issue and are working to resolve it as soon as possible. Apologies for the inconvenience.”

The news comes after the airline faced IT issues preventing passengers from checking in earlier this month.

Aer Lingus confirmed that the IT systems outage, which led to the cancellation of more than 50 flights in and out of Dublin Airport, was caused by construction workers hitting a fibre-optic cable in the UK.

A back-up system should have kicked in to keep its systems online. However, “a component failed in the back-up,” says the airline.
