Adam Lallana responds to Mohamed Salah 'warning' before Brighton v Liverpool

Adam Lallana is hoping that Mohamed Salah's 'goal forecast' doesn't come to fruition when Brighton & Hove Albion and Liverpool lock horns on Saturday afternoon.

Premier League top-scorer Salah was left frustrated after twice hitting the post in the Reds' 1-0 Champions League last-16 second-leg defeat against Inter Milan at Anfield - a tie they still advanced from 2-1 on aggregate.

After the match, the Egyptian took a positive view, putting to reporters that although he missed good chances against the Italians, he might score three in his next match.

Liverpool will face former player Lallana in the Premier League on Saturday when they come up against the midfielder's current club Brighton in lunchtime kick-off.

And the 33-year-old, who left Anfield with Champions League and Premier League winners medals, is hoping Salah's prediction does not materialise.

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live on Tuesday evening, when asked about his former team-mates's comments, he said: “I hope not, because they’ve got Brighton at the weekend!”

The Seagulls have already taken points off Liverpool this season, having come back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 at Anfield back on October 30.

Brighton are currently 13th in the Premier League table and are struggling for form, having lost the last four matches and scoring just one goal during that run.

Liverpool will be fully focused on securing another three points in their pursuit of Manchester City, who do not play in the league again until next Monday when they face Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

Salah has 27 goals in all competitions this season but has not scored for three games. His last goals came in the 6-0 home win against Leeds United, when he scored two penalties.
