Adam Collard has addressed his split from Paige Thorne for the first time after she accused him of cheating.
The Love Island finalist, 27, said he “holds his hands up” after being filmed flirting with other girls on nights out while dating the 25-year-old paramedic but “now wants to explain what really happened”.
Last month, Thorne claimed the online fitness owner had ghosted her following the cheating allegations, which caused their romance to end – a claim he has denied.
Now the reality TV star is saying his actions were “all misinterpreted” and that he was simply taking photos with fans during a personal appearance. Collard explained how he and his pals were “starving” so walked to McDonald’s without security when he was seen with another girl in the fast food chain.
Clarifying the situation from his point of view, the ITV2 star said said: “In there was when we met the blonde girl [from the video].
“She actually was really nice and polite, and we’d had a couple of drinks but what she said, ‘I got in tonight to the club, but my friends didn’t.’
“So, what you don’t actually see in the video is the camera goes around and I get photos with all of her friends like that and take pictures with all of them.”
Collard insisted that was “all that happened” and the clip that was shared on social media was just a “snap shot” of what really happened.
The Newcastle native insisted that he just waited for his food, posed for pictures and went home by himself but the whole scenario got “blown out of proportion”.
Collard also explained that he realised it was the “beginning of the end” of his and Paige’s relationship after several “other photos and videos I’d taken that night got turned into looking like something else”.
He said: “There’s a video of me earlier that night in a club. I don’t even know who took it, but I’ve seen one of them and I think that’s what Paige has been referring to. I was just working.”
In October, Thorne addressed their romance coming to an end just two months after they left the ITV2 villa together, amid cheating allegations.
Aside from the McDonald’s clip, she also claimed Collard was pictured partying in Ibiza looking particularly close to another girl at a pool party.
Speaking on the Saving Grace podcast, she said: “I’m single – living my best life. No I’m kidding, it’s been a really s**t time.”
The 24-year-old claimed that Collard was “not friends” with the woman he was seen with in Ibiza and even alleged that there are more clips from the party.
She claimed: “It’s not just that video. There are other videos that people don’t know about of different people, on the same night, in different locations.
“At first, I was like, nah do you know what? It’s just an arm. I get that people get flirty. There’s nothing to it. If I’m in the club and a guy puts his arm around me, is it cheating? No.
“And then these other videos came out and I’m just like, ooh. Ooh, I can’t justify this.”
