- Former actor John Alford has died at HMP Bure in Norfolk, just two months after being jailed for sexual offences.
- Alford, 54, was sentenced to eight-and-a-half years in January after being convicted of sexually assaulting two teenage girls.
- He was found guilty of four counts of sexual activity with a 14-year-old girl and charges of sexual assault and assault by penetration relating to a 15-year-old girl.
- The offences took place in April 2022 at a home in Hertfordshire, after Alford had bought alcohol for the victims.
- The Prison Service said that the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman will investigate, as is standard for all deaths in custody.
