ACB raids commercial tax officer, inspector

BENGALURU: Based on complaints of extortion and corruption, Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths on Thursday raided the houses of a commercial tax officer, an inspector, and a car driver in the city and in Mysuru.

Prior to the raid, an FIR against the three was registered. The FIR identified the suspects as Syed Mohammed, commercial tax officer from Bengaluru, his car driver P Krishnamurthy, and commercial tax inspector CM Yeshwanth.

“The houses of Mohammed and Krishnamurthy were raided in Bengaluru. From Mohammed’s house, we seized Rs 3.4 lakh cash, 384 grams of gold, one car and a two-wheeler. From Krishnamurthy’s house, we recovered Rs 2,100 cash. Similarly, Yeshwanth’s Mysuru house was raided and 50 grams of gold and 1kg of silver articles were recovered,” read an ACB note.
