The headteacher of an academy on the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire border has resigned. Steve Huntington, from Heanor Gate Spencer Academy, resigned following a period of extended absence.
Speculation on social media started in July which prompted the school to send out a text message to parents. The message confirmed he was absent due to personal reasons and was re-iterated in a September newsletter.
Heanor Gate Spencer Academy has now issued a fresh statement, reports Derbyshire Live. The statement informs parents that executive principal Mr Huntington has resigned as of December 31.
