A man has been jailed for two-and-a-half years after strangling a woman in Eastwood until she could no longer breathe. Michael Jamson, 30, breached a court order which banned him from seeing his female victim and he repeatedly assaulted her over the course of three days last August.
The abuse came to a head at an address on Wood Street in Eastwood on August 29, when the strangling took place. A passing driver stopped to intervene in the incident, which took place outside the address, and they took the woman to safety.
The intervention alerted police to the incident and Jamson was arrested the same day, answering "no comment" to each of the questions put to him. He later pleaded guilty to assault, controlling and coercive behaviour, battery, intentional strangulation and breaching a restraining order at Nottingham Crown Court on Thursday, January 12.
