An abandoned mental health centre in the centre of Southport is set to go up for auction.
The Hesketh Centre on Albert Road, Southport, closed its doors in 2020. The closure came due to the new £20 million Hartley Hospital opening on Scarisbrick New Road, just minutes away from the Hesketh Centre.
Since then, the building has been left empty and up for sale, but due to a lack of interest, it is now set to go before auction. Last year, the ECHO reported on an urban explorer gaining access to the disused building and capturing eery photos.

Abandoned UK, a Facebook and Youtube page that goes to empty buildings posted a video of the centre on its page. During the video, the group explore the building in-depth, recording almost all aspects of the building.
They show the secure rooms, left untouched since it was closed, as well as the wards that patients would stay on. The man recording the video also points out the number of items left behind, with beds, monitors and chairs all being left in the building.
The structure of the building was also noted, with traditional coving throughout the building showing the history of the health centre, with it being believed to have been first opened in 1903.
A spokesperson for Mersey Care said: "Mersey Care’s services at the Hesketh Centre have all transferred to the new Hartley Hospital. In these circumstances, surplus premises like this are offered to the local health system but as no interest was forthcoming, we followed due process and offered it on the open market.
"As no appropriate offers were received, we intend to auction the building."
