Abandoned Glasgow police station caught on video as urban explorers take a tour of Anderston site

Urban adventurers have shared a fascinating peek inside an abandoned Glasgow police station - and it's beyond creepy.

The former Cranstonhill Police Station, on Argyle Street in the Anderston area, was opened back in 1960, but has been vacant for nearly a decade.

Last year, the council blocked a bid by developers Westpoint Homes to demolish the former police station and build 84 flats and six commercial units on the site.

The video is captioned: "Come and explore this abandoned police station with me", before viewers are asked if "anyone has been locked up in here before" as a view of the hall is shown.

The front desk of the police station and cell areas are shown, with the caption: "Even the cops can't keep us out", with the view of the cells sparking the comment that: "The cells look pretty depressing...don't fancy getting into trouble and locked up like this."

The video, which is soundtracked by 'Sound of Da Police' by KRS-ONE, has been viewed over 16,000 times since being posted on TikTok yesterday.

About the visit, the person behind the Abandoned Scotland account - who wished to remain anonymous - told Glasgow Live: "I just saw that some other explorers have been and I’ve visited quite a few of the older abandoned jails in Glasgow and wanted to check out the cells to get a few shots with my camera".

One person who watched the video commented: "OMG, imagine a rave in there".

Another wrote: "It's the old Cranstoun hill police office in Finneston Glasgow. Brings back memories."

And a third wrote: "Don’t fancy getting into trouble, but is trespassing might get you locked up."
