A proposed independent pizza shop is scheduled to open in Northfield, taking the place of a currently closed florist.
The new takeaway is set to open on Northfield Broadway with space for some seating in the building but primarily focusing on providing takeaway food for people in the nearby area.
The location will be setting up shop in a lot that is currency vacant and was previously the long running florist “Wilma’s Flower World”.

Edinburgh City Council has now put out a notification to nearby neighbours that work will be ongoing to convert the vacant property.
According to Format Designs, the proposed takeaway will feature a small kitchen, with pizza ovens in the front of the shop and a small seating area where people can eat.
There is no currently proposed opening date for the new shop but it is expected that it should be open sometime soon.
The previous owners of the building- Wilma’s Flower World- closed their doors for the last time in 2021 after 32 years in the business.
The iconic flower shop had become a staple of the community after so many years of business.
According to the owner, the decision to hang up her gloves came not because of a dip in sales but because she wanted to spend more time being active in the local community.
The proposed commercial is likely add some welcome takeaway options for the Northfield area - alongside other businesses like nearby Giovanni’s Fish and Chips and Barracuda Edinburgh.
Located on Northfield Broadway, the application is currently going through the planning application process with the city council.
