The Jets offensive line did not have a great outing protecting Aaron Rodgers in the team’s joint practice session with the Buccaneers on Wednesday.
Multiple reporters indicated that New York’s offense looked unorganized on Tuesday and that the four-time MVP took at least a half-dozen sacks during passing situations during practice on Wednesday. Despite the chaos up front and Jets coach Robert Saleh’s displeasure about it which was apparent on Tuesday’s Hard Knocks episode, Rodgers believes the offensive line is a “work in progress” and needs more of a consistent flow of players on the field.
“I was thinking maybe we’d [Jets' offensive line] start to figure some stuff out,” Rodgers told reporters, per SNY. “Obviously it hasn’t happened yet. There’s jobs up for grabs. That’s the beauty in camp, but also the struggle. In talking with a couple of guys, we just need some continuity, I think, at some point.”
It is worth noting that the Jets were without offensive linemen Laken Tomlinson, Alijah Vera-Tucker and Duane Brown during practice. But, moving forward, the growth of the offensive line will be a prime area of focus as the Jets prepare for their third preseason game on Saturday against Tampa Bay and their Sept. 11 regular season opener on Monday Night Football against the Bills.
