Aaron Ramsey announces retirement from football

  • Aaron Ramsey, the former Wales captain and Arsenal midfielder, has announced his immediate retirement from football at the age of 35.
  • Ramsey earned 86 caps for Wales, playing a pivotal role in their “golden generation” that qualified for three major tournaments, including their run to the Euro 2016 semi-finals.
  • During his club career, he won three FA Cups with Arsenal, notably scoring the winning goals in the 2014 and 2017 finals.
  • He also played for Cardiff City, Juventus, Rangers, Nice, and most recently Mexican club Pumas.
  • Ramsey stated that the decision was not easy, expressing gratitude to Wales fans, his former clubs and his family.
