Aaron Judge Has Blunt Message for Yankees' Doubters After Two-Home Run Day vs. Rays

The Yankees battled back against the Rays on Saturday to overcome a six-run deficit and steal a win. It’s been a sluggish start to the season in New York, but the team moved out of the cellar of the AL East following its win against Tampa.

Aaron Judge played a critical role in the Yankees’ victory, launching two home runs and registering four RBIs. After the game, Judge was asked about the early struggles from the franchise and the frustration of the fanbase, to which he gave a blunt response.

“To be honest, we don’t listen to it,” Judge said.

New York improved to 23–18 with Saturday’s victory, and while it’s far from where it wanted to be through 41 games, it’s a step in the right direction. The team has been plagued by injuries early on, including Judge, who had a stint on the 10-day IL due to a hip issue.

Judge’s two home runs on Saturday were his first since returning from the injury, and his first overall since April 19. He’s now up to eight on the season, tied with Anthony Rizzo for the team lead.

Fans in New York have voiced their displeasure throughout the team’s disappointing start, but Judge made clear that he and his teammates aren’t paying attention to the outside noise.

The Yankees close out their four-game series with the Rays on Sunday, and will host the Blue Jays in a four-game set from May 15 to 18, with a chance to overtake third place in the division on the line.
