New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) welcomed the Supreme Court verdict to grant bail to the Party's Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh in a money-laundering case linked to the Excise Policy and called it "big day for democracy in the country and a moment of hope".
In a joint press conference, AAP leaders claimed that the court order "exposed" that the entire liquor scam case was based on statements "extorted" from witnesses and approvers.
"This is a big day for democracy in the country and a moment of happiness and hope," Delhi Mantri Saurabh Bharadwaj said.
In the meantime, Sanjay Singh's mother Radhika Singh thanked the Supreme Court and said that her son is innocent and should not have been arrested.
"We are happy, we were waiting for this. We thank the Supreme Court. My son is innocent. He should not have been arrested but I am happy that he has got bail," she said. (with Agency inputs)
