A Delhi court has adjourned to Saturday the pronouncement of its verdict on the CBI’s plea against a trial court verdict which asked it to withdraw its lookout circular against author and Amnesty International India former chief Aakar Patel, according to Live and Law. The court has also extended its stay on the previous order, the news portal reported.
Patel, who was invited by three universities in the US to deliver lectures on various subjects, including his book ‘Price of the Modi Years’, was first stopped from leaving Bengaluru on April 6. He had then moved court.
The Rouse Avenue District Court in Delhi later ordered the CBI to withdraw its look out circular – in an alleged case of violation of the Foreign Contributions Regulation Act – against Patel, due to which he was prevented from flying to the US.
However, Patel, a former journalist, was prevented from flying out of the country again. “…have been stopped at immigration again. CBI has not taken me off their look out circular,” Patel had tweeted, indicating that he will move court again.
