A38 crash victim named after incident which also killed two women and left others seriously injured

Police have named a 23-year-old man who died in a fatal crash on the A38 which also killed two women and left two others seriously injured. Emergency services were called to the incident in the early hours of Saturday, April 23 which involved one car on the busy road at Pinxton.

One of three people who died in the crash has now been named as Kudakwashe Mdianyama, who was a passenger in the silver Ford Focus when it left the road. The 23-year-old, who was from Coventry, died at the scene of the collision.

Two other women, both aged 21, have not been formerly identified, however, their families are aware and are being supported by specially trained officers. The A38 was closed in both directions from junction 28 of the M1 to the B600 in the early hours of Saturday morning - one person involved who was previously reported to be seriously injured has now left hospital, police have confirmed.

A spokesperson for Derbyshire Constabulary said: "A second man remains in a serious but stable condition at hospital following the incident - while a third woman injured in the crash has now left hospital and is recovering at home.

"Officers continue to make enquiries into the circumstances of the collision and would still like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the crash or noticed the car, which had been travelling southbound on the M1 before the collision. We would particularly appeal for anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage which could help with our enquiries to get in touch."
