A teenage boy was struck by a car on the A38 near Bristol today (April 25), closing the road for hours. The 14-year-old was hit along the road in South Gloucestershire as he crossed it after getting off a bus at 4pm.
He was struck by a Land Rover Discovery and was rushed to hospital, but his injuries are not thought to be life threatening. The road was shut until 8.30pm following the collision as police carried out their examination of the scene.
A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Constabulary said: "A 14-year-old boy has been taken to hospital following a collision on the A38 Gloucester Road at Whitfield.
