A main road in North Somerset will be closed for five days next week. This is so that £40,000 worth of improvements can be carried out.
The A371 Woodborough Road in Winscombe will be closed for five days starting next Monday, July 25. The work will complete drainage improvements and carriageway surfacing, with the scheme being overseen by North Somerset Council.
It's part of the council's on-going, low-cost annual maintenance programme which is said to prolong the life of the road, improve skid resistance and make it safer to drive on. The road will be closed from the Nippors Way junction to the Rockeries Drive junction.

The closure will begin at 8am on Monday, July 25 and continue around the clock for five days. A diversion route will be in place and access will be maintained for residents and local businesses only.
Signage will be in place throughout the works to advise that businesses are open as usual and traffic marshals will be positioned at key locations to give more information on access arrangements.
Cllr Steve Hogg, North Somerset Council's executive member with responsibility for highways, said: "We appreciate that this scheme will cause some disruption on this busy route. We would ask drivers to avoid the area if possible and be patient while this essential maintenance takes place."
