A Place In The Sun viewers left cringing at 'cheeky' offer couple make on house

Viewers of Channel 4 show A Place In The Sun were left stunned at a "cheeky" offer made by a couple on a house they saw.

Presenter Lee Juggurnauth took couple Julie and Peter on a tour of homes in the southwest of France. They had a budget of £200,000 and were looking for a two-bedroom detached home with traditional French features.

Lee showed them a few viable options but it was the final home that impressed the couple. It was a three-bedroom property in Degagnac, which used to be an old school building. The home was on sale for £185,000.

Although the home was already on sale for a low price, the couple decided to put in an offer for £150,000. On hearing their offer, Lee asked: "That is significantly lower than the asking price, what's the reason for that?"

Julie explained: "We need to put in a shower room downstairs for the second bedroom, convert the annexe garage doors into proper windows and doors and we would like to put a swimming pool in."

Their low offer, despite being within their budget, was rejected. Fans were confused by the pair and took to Twitter to complain about the couple's offer, reports The Mirror.

"Wow they were hard work!!! That was uncomfortable to watch…" one viewer said. Another added: "Once again, a couple expecting the seller to pay for their renovation." "£150k for a £185k property? That is quite the stunt to pull," one person commented.

Another Twitter user wrote: "Poor Lee looks suitably embarrassed by having to put those miserly offers forward."
