A Place in the Sun buyer reduced to tears after £85,000 bidding warfare

A house-hunter was reduced to tears after a bidding warfare on A Place in the Sun

Jean Johansson returned to front today's edition of the popular Channel 4 programme. The presenter showed Martin and Kate around five properties in Spain as the couple aimed to find their dream holiday home.

The married couple were looking for a two bedroom property for their two children and family dog. They had never visited the region and had a budget of £90,000, which could stretch to £100,000.

The couple fell in love with the second property on the programme, which was a three-bedroom townhouse in Los Alcazares. The home boasted an open-plan living/dining room patio and a large roof sun terrace - and was on the market for just over £91,500.

Martin and Kate said there was some maintenance to be done on the house and lodged a bid of £82,000. The owners came back with a counterbid of just over £86,500.

A bidding warfare ensured as the property buyers offered £85,000. The bid was once again rejected before they reached a compromise of £85,700.

Kate was in tears once their bid was accepted. Jean said: "You're going to get me gone. I know how emotional this is for you. This is going to change your lives."

A Place in the Sun airs weekdays at 3pm on Channel 4 and All 4
