Get ready luxury lovers… a new glamorous hotel is landing on London’s South Bank.
No one needs a reason to visit London, but if you happen to be looking for one, this new launch might seal the deal.
Chic Hong Kong-based hospitality operator Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group is set to open its third London hotel in 2028. Centred around the historic railway arches between the Tate Modern and Blackfriars station, the whopping 171-room property will boast sweeping views over St Paul’s Cathedral and the Thames.
With easy access both to the City and the West End theatre and shopping districts, the hotel will offer the perfect base for both leisure and business travellers looking to soak up all the culture the capital has to offer.
Four restaurants will open across the fourth and 19th floors of the buildings, alongside a 25-metre pool, spa and fitness centre.
The hotel will be a sister property to the five-star Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, which opened in 2000, and the Mandarin Oriental Mayfair, which is expected to finally open this autumn after a two-year delay.
The property will make up part of the wider Bankside Yards developments, a 5.5 acre scheme set to feature eight new buildings including restaurants, bars and cultural spaces, as well as more than 700 homes for sale and rent.
The project will also see 14 Victorian railway arches restored and made publicly accessible for the first time in 150 years.The private residences will have access to the hotel’s facilities, as well as a sky lobby lounge, private roof garden, and central London parking.
And the project has some pretty lofty sustainability goals too, planning to be the UK’s first fossil fuel-free major mixed-use development.
