A man falsely claiming to be an FBI agent told officers at a New York City federal jail on Wednesday that he had court orders to release Luigi Mangione, authorities said.
Mark Anderson, 36, from Mankato, Minnesota, was arrested and charged with impersonating an FBI agent in an attempt to free Mangione at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. Mangione is awaiting state and federal murder trials in the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.
