A Lego safari trail featuring giant animals is coming to Wales this summer

Lego is a toy that has never gone out of fashion as many generations have fond memories of playing with the colourful building blocks while growing up. Now families can enjoy a giant Lego trail at a great Welsh attraction this summer.

The UK's only Lego Brick Wetland Safari is coming to Llanelli 's Wetland Centre. There will be 15 giant wetland animals made from Lego, including two new never seen before characters.

The trail will be around the Wetland Centre, meaning families can spot Lego animals and real animals alike, and some characters are 12 times the size of the actual animal. The new characters are Percy the Pelican and Camille the Curlew who will be joining past favourites including Katie the Kingfisher, Lottie the Otter, Fred the Frog, Flavia the Flamingo and Sam the Short-eared Owl.

Running at the Wetland Centre from Saturday, July, 16 to Sunday, September, 4 this is the perfect summer holiday activity. There will be trail maps available to help guide visitors around the course.

This is not the first time Lego events have come to Llanelli Wetland Centre and earlier in 2022 Cardiff's St David's shopping centre was host to a Nickelodeon-themed Lego trail. Llanelli Wetland Centre Manager Jo Jones said: “We know from our previous Lego events that people of all ages love to see these giant models out amongst the real animals."

"The safari is a fun way to highlight some of the wetland species that the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust (WWT) has worked hard to save, such as the iconic Hawaiian goose and incredible spoon-billed sandpiper."

The trial is included in the admission fees to the centre and the centre is open daily from 9.30am to 5pm, with the last entry at 4pm. You can keep up to date with the latest What's On news by signing up to the newsletter here.
