A Game-Ending Blow: France Defender William Saliba Leaves the Pitch After Experiencing a Non-Contact Back Injury

France's defender, William Saliba, was assisted off the field after appearing to aggravate a back injury during his side's World Cup match against Spain, raising concerns over the health of the team's first-choice center-back.

The Arsenal defender appeared uncomfortable throughout portions of the match before eventually leaving the pitch with assistance after suffering what appeared to be a non-contact injury. Saliba was seen walking off slowly while clutching his lower back, and television footage showed him struggling to move comfortably as France's medical staff assessed his condition.
