A Florida woman goes shopping at Ross. Then she makes an unusual discovery: ‘How on earth’

A Florida woman said in a TikTok video that she went shopping for clothes at a Ross Dress for Less store and came across an unexpected item. Kendall Breyon, who posts under the handle @kendallbreyon, stated she found a company t-shirt from Get Good Lawn Care priced at $12.99.

In the video, Breyon held up the black shirt and described the front as featuring a logo with the words “GET GOOD LAWN CARE” and the slogan “LET YOUR WORRIES BE OURS.” She turned it around to show the back, which she said listed a phone number along with services such as paver patios and walkways, excavation, tree trimming and removal, mulch and rock, bush and hedge trimming, spring and fall cleanup, aeration and thatching, and gutter cleaning.

Breyon also pointed out a QR code on the shirt. She said she scanned it and that it linked to the company’s website, which appeared active, as well as its Instagram account. The TikTok video has gained 1.4 million views, 85,900 likes, and more than 2,000 comments.

Get Good Lawn Care launches a giveaway after the video spreads

In a follow-up TikTok video, Breyon appeared outside a Ross store wearing the same shirt. She said she had not expected to find a Get Good Lawn Care shirt there, noting that she is in Florida while the company is based in Connecticut. Breyon stated that things happen for a reason and that the shirt found the right person in her.

She explained that her first video about the shirt had gained significant attention and that she felt happy for the company. Breyon then shared that Get Good Lawn Care was running a giveaway for the first 100 people. Participants could receive either one of the company’s soft t-shirts or a cozy item, according to what she described.

Breyon indicated that the details for entering the giveaway were pinned on the company’s profile. She said it involved following the account and leaving a Google review. She added that the shirts feel really soft and that she planned to wear hers all over Florida.

In the same video, Breyon noted that the Ross store had placed a security sensor on the Get Good Lawn Care shirt. She observed that many items from big-name brands in the store did not have tags, yet this one did. She expressed hope that the company might eventually get its merchandise into Ross stores or sell it directly on its website.

Breyon also said the company owner had mentioned her and was sending a gift basket with more merchandise. She stated she looked forward to receiving the box and building a new wardrobe from the items. The unpredictable nature of brand recognition can lead to unexpected outcomes, as when a woman reached out to Dollar Tree for a paid partnership after giving them millions of views, only to be turned down.

According to an article from Tumbleweed Thrift, Ross Dress for Less operates as an off-price retailer rather than a thrift store. The outlet sells brand-new, never-worn clothing and merchandise sourced from department-store overstock, canceled orders, and manufacturer closeouts. Nothing on the floor has been owned or worn by a previous customer, unlike thrift stores that sell donated secondhand goods.

Get Good Lawn Care left a comment on the original video that read, “Hahah how on earth.” Viewers shared a range of reactions. One person wrote, “No cuz Ross selling their own shirts too.” Another asked, “Ross is selling donated clothes like Goodwill???” These kinds of retail surprises can be quite memorable, such as when a woman went to Target to expose its annoying section.

A different commenter said, “the newest getgoodlawn care employee,” while someone else added, “New marketing lady for get good lawn.” One viewer remarked, “I’m like dang this is genius marketing! But it really has a security tag on it!” Another shared a personal story, writing, “One time I took my north face off to try on clothes and I found it on a hanger on the rack lmao.”
