A Cincinnati Olive Oil Sold for Nearly a Year Used a Garlic Oil Never Cleared for Food

A Cincinnati olive oil producer has recalled its garlic-infused extra virgin olive oil after determining that the flavoring it used was a garlic essential oil not approved for culinary use, and the product had been on sale for nearly a year before the recall was issued.

LMSI LLC, operating as Kofinas Olive Oil, is recalling its Garlic Mediterranean Infused Extra Virgin Olive Oil in 500 ml, 250 ml, and 100 ml glass bottles, according to the FDA announcement of the voluntary recall. The company said the product was available from August 31, 2025 through August 27, 2026.
