A café merges with lifestyle at Marimekko Kafé at The Emporium

Following its first location (bit.ly/3NZ2Og1) at Central Embassy, Marimekko has set up shop on Sukhumvit with a new café that doubles as a lifestyle space.

The Finnish fashion and lifestyle label introduces Marimekko Kafé, which is a café/creative studio on the 1st floor of The Emporium, adjacent to the Marimekko shop. The space blendes dining and artistic expressions and coincides with Marimekko Thailand's eighth-anniversary celebrations. The cafe embodies the brand's ethos of "Bringing Joy To Everyday Life".

Concept designer Ploy Chariyaves designed the café, where she artfully translates the essence of inspiration and youthful energy that one immediately experiences upon entering the space. Ploy calls this "a witty girl's playground". The cafe puts a playful spin on minimalism, with the brand's bold prints on each wall, adding to the lively vibe that is almost impossible to ignore.

From the Home collection, expect an array of pillows and cushions in floral and geometric patterns that complement the wooden dining table sets. Oiva, Marimekko's iconic ceramic collection, has been selected to enhance the dining experience with its exquisite craftsmanship and distinctive designs.

The cafe menu has been put together by food consultant Utchima "Puey" Sriprachya-anan, Asama “Mook” Vichaidit, veteran judge at Thai barista competitions and owner of Chiang Mai's Asama Café, and restauranteur Vasinee "Gaem" Ukkachartkul. The menu is a fusion of Thai-Finnish cuisine, while embracing the concept of "comfort food, clean and true with essential ingredients".

Crab cake salad served with curry vinaigrette.

Smoked salmon crepes, Onigiri with moo-ping and Crab cake salad with curry dressing are among the highlighted dishes that the Puey has curated, with a focus on her "homemade and heart-made with balance" concept. Conceptualised by Gaem, the dessert and drink menu draws inspiration from Scandinavian delights, featuring Raspberry lychee rose cake, Berry cream cheese tart and a refreshing Strawberry virgin mojito.

Coffee snobs are in good hands as the coffee offerings are crafted by Mook. Each coffee drink contains the story and culture of Marimekko. Think of a floral sip from the Longan-infused cold brew, which boasts the delicate aroma of chrysanthemum alluding to the iconic blossom print of Unikko.

Marimekko Kafé is open daily from 10am-10pm. Visit marimekko.co.th.
