A brutal uncalled facemask cost the Eagles a fourth quarter fumble and NFL fans were furious

It wasn’t the best night for the Philadephia Eagles at home on Monday night. Despite early celebrations and cruising from Jalen Hurts and Co., the rival Washington Commanders came in and ended the undefeated dreams of the NFC’s best team thus far.

While the Commanders played well, with Brian Robinson particularly taking advantage of the Philadelphia defense, it wasn’t all about their effort. They did have a little bit of help from the officials on hand.

After tight end Dallas Goedert made a catch in the fourth quarter while trying to help rally the Eagles, he fumbled the ball, and the Commanders recovered it. There was just one problem: Washington linebacker Jaman Davis clearly grabbed a full hold of Goedert’s facemask as the tight end fumbled the ball.

Somehow, no one called a penalty:

Oof, you just can’t miss a call like that, and in such a big moment, too. This play was one of the final catalysts for the Commanders, who went on to upset the Eagles 32-21. Perhaps the outcome is a little different if Washington isn’t gifted this possession after a clear penalty wasn’t called.

NFL fans were furious that officials missed the facemask on Goedert
